If you’re ever in Caloocan City, the Monumento is a must-visit. It’s one of the best monuments in the world, and it pays tribute to Andres Bonifacio, the founder and Supremo of the Katipunan, a revolutionaries movement aimed to free the Filipinos from the oppressive rule of the Spanish colonizers.
The Monumento is a bronze masterpiece sculpted by Philippine National Artist for sculpture, Guillermo Tolentino. The powerful monument stands 13.7 meters tall, with Bonifacio on the foreground, ready and armed with a revolver and bolo with a group of Katipuneros behind him. He is depicted to be forming the sign of Cry of Balintawak with his arm, a gesture of instigating a revolution and declaring a free Philippines.

The monument serves as a reminder, or a living testament, of his strength and determination in the pursuit of freedom and independence. Aside from being a representation of a strong leader and an inspirational figure to the Filipino people, it is also a great place to capture a stunning photo.
If you ever find yourself in Caloocan City, pay a visit to the Monumento to pay your respects to Andres Bonifacio and his courageous efforts in fighting for freedom and liberty of his people. His determination and strength serve as an example for all of us to draw inspiration from, so take a moment to honor his legacy today.
