UP Diliman: A Campus of History and Culture
Walking through UP Diliman, you immediately sense the blend of history, artistry, and open space. Established after the original University of the Philippines in Manila grew too crowded, the Diliman campus became the new heart of the UP System. The formal transfer of the Oblation statue in 1949 symbolized not just a relocation but a reaffirmation of the university’s mission: service to the nation. The expansive 493-hectare grounds have since evolved into a vibrant cultural landscape that embraces education, activism, and tourism in equal measure.
