Conceived under the leadership of then‑First Lady Imelda Marcos and inaugurated in 1969, CCP was envisioned to provide a permanent home for the performing and visual arts in the country. Its striking structure, designed by Filipino architect Leandro Locsin, combines modernist lines with a sense of monumental presence, signaling that here is a space dedicated to national culture and artistic excellence. Visitors often pause at the reflecting pools and grand façade, camera in hand, capturing both the bold architecture and the anticipation of performances inside.
