Location and Atmosphere
Le Coq Bleu Homestay Baguio is a welcoming space where comfort meets creativity. Owned by Chantal Michaut-Pangilinan, a Frenchwoman who has lived in the city for over 30 years, and her Kapampangan husband, the homestay surprises visitors with its relaxed charm rather than a typical French theme. Wooden furniture, soft colors, and cozy corners make the space feel approachable, inviting guests to slow down and enjoy their surroundings.

Intimate and Characterful Design
While the space itself is quite roomy, Le Coq Bleu Homestay accepts only a couple for overnight stays, keeping the experience intimate and relaxed. The dining area seats six, and the generous layout lets guests enjoy the mix of Cordillera elements and subtle French countryside touches — from the chateau-style structure to the warm wooden furniture that ties the place together. It’s simple, thoughtful, and full of quiet charm.
Crafted with Stories
The homestay’s charm comes from its curated items, each carrying history or personal significance. Heirloom knives and utensils, a couch brought from France, pieces of salvaged wood, and trinkets collected from thrift stores or gifted by friends all contribute to a lived-in, character-filled environment. These elements make the homestay feel authentic, where comfort, creativity, and memory converge naturally.
Hospitality and Flavors
Filipino warmth meets French touches in every guest experience. Guests are served croissants with apple compote, slices of pears, ube-flavored yogurt, Benguet coffee, French toast, fruit-and-vegetable salads, and omelets infused with Cordilleran kiniing in the intimate dining area. The space encourages conversation and connection, with Chantal welcoming visitors and sharing stories that blend local culture with her French background. The combination of flavors, hospitality, and art makes every visit feel engaging and memorable.
Art and Inspiration
As part of the Gastro × Art Creative Crawl, the homestay features works by Roland Bay-an, Zylan Yvonne Blando, and Mae Anne Macaraeg. Paintings and installations integrate naturally into the rooms and hallways, turning the homestay into a living gallery. Guests can enjoy art alongside daily comforts, creating a stay that blends visual inspiration with a sense of home.

Celebrating Baguio’s Creativity
The homestay is part of the Ibagiw Festival, Baguio City’s month-long celebration of art, crafts, and local talent organized by the Creative Baguio City Council (CBCC). Its name comes from bagiw, the Ibaloi word for moss, reflecting something rooted in Baguio. Since the city’s recognition as a UNESCO Creative City in 2017, the festival has grown into an annual platform showcasing weaving, woodwork, visual arts, and homegrown stories. The 2025 theme, “Traditions Rooted, Futures Routed,” officially launched on November 14 at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center with a ceremonial ritual. According to Ms. Marie Venus Tan, Co-Chair of CBCC, tradition provides a foundation for self-expression, allowing artists and participants to leave their mark while celebrating Baguio’s creative identity.
