A Front-Row Seat to Taal Volcano

What sets Club Balai Isabel apart from most resort destinations in the Philippines is its unique view of Taal Volcano—one of the world’s smallest active volcanoes. From your room window, the infinity pool, or even while sipping your morning coffee at the restaurant, you get a postcard-perfect sight of the volcano across the lake. There’s something hypnotic about watching the volcano from afar, especially during sunrise when the lake is glassy and golden, or at dusk when the sky turns dramatic with purples and reds.

For the more adventurous, boat rides across the lake can be arranged, allowing guests to get closer to Volcano Island. Of course, all excursions depend on the volcano’s activity status and local safety advisories. Even when staying onshore, the view alone brings a rare sense of awe and calm that’s hard to find elsewhere.

A Blend of Heritage and Hospitality

While most guests come for the lake, many are surprised to discover that Club Balai Isabel also holds historical significance. Located within the property are the ruins of the Old Tanauan Church, a 17th-century stone structure built during the Spanish colonial era. This church once stood in the original town of Tanauan before the town was relocated due to volcanic eruptions in 1754.

These ruins are quiet, almost hidden behind gardens and walkways, but they tell a powerful story of the region’s resilience. For photographers, history enthusiasts, or even just the quietly curious, this little detail adds a rich layer to your stay—reminding you that this resort wasn’t just built for leisure, but stands on deeply rooted ground.

Comfort for Every Type of Traveler

Club Balai Isabel is designed to accommodate a wide range of guests—from solo travelers and couples to big families and company groups. Accommodations range from hotel-style rooms to full-blown mansions. The standard rooms and suites are well-maintained, air-conditioned, and come with breakfast—ideal for small families or couples looking for a relaxing weekend. Meanwhile, lakeside villas and apartment-style residences offer more spacious living quarters, often with kitchenettes, making them great for barkada outings or family getaways.

For those seeking luxury, the Lakeforest Mansions are a top-tier option. Each mansion is designed for exclusivity and comfort, featuring seven private suites, bathtubs, walk-in closets, private gardens, and even a personal swimming pool and grilling area. It’s essentially a resort within a resort—perfect for special occasions, reunions, or corporate retreats.

Adventure, Recreation, and Wellness in One Place

Now let’s talk fun. Club Balai Isabel isn’t just about lounging around (although you absolutely should). The resort features a floating Aqua Park—a giant inflatable playground on the water that’s a hit with both kids and the young-at-heart. Kayaks and paddleboards are also available for rent, offering guests a chance to explore the lake at their own pace.

If you’re into land-based activities, you won’t be disappointed. The property includes biking and jogging paths, as well as basketball and volleyball courts. Whether it’s a chill morning ride or an intense late-afternoon match, there’s something active for everyone. After a day of adventure, guests can unwind at Kumintang Spa, which offers massage services and wellness treatments that help ease muscle tension and travel fatigue.

A Venue for Every Celebration

It’s no surprise that Club Balai Isabel has become a go-to destination for weddings, anniversaries, and corporate events. Imagine saying “I do” with Taal Volcano in the background or holding a company team-building event where participants can both strategize and soak in the scenery. The resort is equipped with a lakeside chapel, spacious ballrooms, multiple function halls, and beautifully landscaped gardens—all of which can be customized for a variety of events.

The team behind the resort is experienced in handling large groups, and they provide event planning support to ensure smooth execution, whether it’s a baptism, a family reunion, or even a music festival.

Dining and Local Flavors

When it comes to food, Club Balai Isabel doesn’t fall short. The resort has on-site dining options that serve a mix of Filipino favorites and international dishes. One of the crowd-pleasers is their version of bulalo, a savory beef marrow soup that’s best enjoyed while staring out over the misty lake. For merienda, there’s halo-halo, fried saba, and crispy tawilis—a small freshwater fish endemic to Taal Lake. Dining here feels more than just convenient—it’s part of the lakeside experience.

Guests also have the option to cook their own meals if they’re staying in villas or apartments with kitchenettes. For many families, that’s part of the fun—sharing a home-cooked meal while gathered around in one of the outdoor grilling areas.

Getting There and Travel Tips

Located in Barangay Banga, Talisay, Club Balai Isabel is accessible via South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) through STAR Tollway, with a drive that takes around an hour and a half to two hours from Metro Manila. Private vehicles are the most convenient way to get there, but for those commuting, public buses going to Tanauan or Tagaytay are good options, followed by a short tricycle ride to the resort.

The best time to visit is during the dry months—from December to May—when you’re most likely to enjoy clear skies and calm lake waters. If you’re planning a shoot, sunrise is golden here. And if you’re into drones, you’ll want to capture the expanse of Taal Lake with its volcanic island in the center—it’s a stunning subject from above.

Final Thoughts: A Place That Stays With You

So here’s the thing—Club Balai Isabel is more than just a vacation spot. It’s a place where nature, culture, and comfort sit side by side. It’s where stories from the past blend with modern escapes, and where every guest—whether resting or roaming—feels like they’ve discovered something personal.

Whether you’re in search of peace, planning your next adventure, or just want to be surrounded by something breathtaking without flying far, Club Balai Isabel delivers. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, soak up the view, and maybe—just maybe—leave a little piece of your heart behind on its quiet shores.
