Ocean Adventure: From Lagoon Shows to Expanded Horizons
Located within the pristine Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Zambales, Ocean Adventure stands as the Philippines’ first open-water marine theme park. Surrounded by lush rainforest
In 2011, Ocean Adventure remained an open-space marine zoological park in the West Ilanin Forest Area, Subic Freeport Zone, Morong, Bataan. Operated by Subic Bay Marine Exploratorium, Inc., the park continued to integrate natural lagoon waters with marine exhibits, providing visitors a unique glimpse into Southeast Asia’s aquatic wildlife while preserving a strong educational focus.
Visitors in 2011 could enjoy all core features developed over the previous decade. False killer whale and sea lion shows remained highlights, providing interactive and scenic experiences. The Discovery Aquarium offered close-up views of a variety of marine species, while Encounter Cove allowed supervised feeding and swimming with marine animals. The open-water design continued to make photography and observation both immersive and natural.
Families, travelers, and photographers found Ocean Adventure appealing not just for its animals but for its scenic backdrop. Lagoon edges and boardwalks were perfect for capturing wildlife in motion, while landscaped paths and viewing areas enhanced the overall visitor experience. Its proximity to other Subic Bay attractions encouraged full-day tourism itineraries, with opportunities to explore nearby eco-parks and beaches.
