Amare La Cucina Baguio: A Slice of Italy in the Heart of Baguio

Perched along Marcos Highway inside The Podium Boutique Hotel, Hoka Brew welcomes visitors with a warm, wood-themed interior and wide windows framing the lush, pine-covered slopes of Baguio. The sweeping views of the city below and the surrounding mountains instantly draw travelers into a moment of calm, inviting them to slow down and enjoy the serenity that only the City of Pines can offer. Whether traveling alone, with a partner, or in a group, Hoka Brew provides a gentle embrace of both nature and comfort, setting the stage for a memorable experience.
From sunrise to sunset, Hoka Brew offers a menu designed to complement the scenic surroundings. Early risers can indulge in all-day breakfast and hearty buffets, while those seeking local and international flavors will find comfort in burgers, quesadillas, pastas, pizzas, and traditional rice-based meals. On weekends, the Mongolian-style buffet invites diners to interact with their food, grilling meats, seafood, and vegetables while savoring the panoramic views. Specialty coffee, craft beers, and local brews flow alongside these dishes, providing a perfect harmony of taste and ambiance that makes each meal a journey in itself.
As evening descends, Hoka Brew transforms into a sanctuary of calm energy and subtle excitement. The city lights sparkle below, contrasted by the tranquil silhouette of the mountains. Live acoustic performances or soft background music occasionally enhance the experience, offering visitors a moment of reflection or shared connection. Terrace and window seating become prized spots as the day fades, and arriving early ensures the best views while enjoying food or drinks in this elevated retreat.
Beyond its culinary offerings, Hoka Brew has embraced art as part of its identity through its collaboration with Art Heals. The café has become a sanctuary for creativity and healing, hosting exhibits that explore personal journeys, identity, mental wellness, and social narratives. Visitors find themselves engaged with installations, photographs, and sculptures that invite contemplation and emotional connection. Exhibits like “HEARTWORK: In the Wake of Light” turn dining moments into reflective experiences, showing how food, scenery, and art can intersect to enrich the soul.
Hoka Brew has become an integral part of the Ibagiw Festival, Baguio City’s month-long celebration of art, crafts, and local talent organized by the Creative Baguio City Council (CBCC). The festival draws its name from bagiw, the Ibaloi word for moss, symbolizing something deeply rooted in Baguio’s culture. Since the city’s recognition as a UNESCO Creative City in 2017, the Ibagiw Festival has grown into an annual platform showcasing weaving, woodwork, visual arts, and homegrown stories. The 2025 theme, “Traditions Rooted, Futures Routed,” officially launched on November 14 at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center with a ceremonial ritual. According to Ms. Marie Venus Tan, Co-Chair of CBCC, tradition provides a foundation for self-expression, allowing artists and participants to leave their mark while celebrating Baguio’s creative identity. Through this festival, Hoka Brew not only offers food and views but also becomes a living gallery where visitors can experience Baguio’s vibrant artistry firsthand.
As part of the Ibagiw Festival, Hoka Brew brings Baguio’s creative spirit directly into its café space, transforming it into a living gallery that celebrates local artistry. Featured artists such as Dulthe Carlo Munar and Sirk Deuda showcase works that invite visitors to reflect and connect with Baguio’s vibrant culture. Munar, a Baguio-based architect and multimedia artist, repurposes reclaimed wood and discarded materials into sculptures exploring memory, resilience, and transformation, turning everyday objects into striking reflections on life and creativity. Sirk Deuda, in contrast, presents conceptual and mixed-media pieces that probe personal, political, and social narratives through layered symbolism and bold imagery. Together, their works make Hoka Brew more than a café; it becomes a dynamic space where visitors can engage with the stories, themes, and emotions of Baguio’s local art scene.
