The soft sands of Masasa Beach, the small islands dotted nearby, and the panoramic view atop Mag-Asawang Bato all create a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility. From island-hopping to stargazing, Tingloy has a charm that lingers in the mind long after the boat ride back to the mainland.
Explore the Philippines through my lens as we venture into Tingloy Island with Point of View (POV) photography. Let’s dive into this visual journey together and uncover the wonders through my lens!
Let’s explore the PHILIPPINES through my lens as we journey on a photo slideshow to Tingloy Island. Join me in this visual adventure and discover the wonders captured through my lens! Check out the shared slideshow here.
Getting to Tingloy

Tingloy is a unique municipality in Batangas Province, occupying Maricaban Island along with Caban Island and several smaller islets just south of the Calumpang Peninsula. Covering about 33.07 square kilometers, it’s home to around 15,800 people. The island is reachable via a combination of land and sea travel: a bus from Metro Manila to Batangas Grand Terminal, a jeepney ride to Anilao or Talaga Port, and a 30–45 minute boat ride to the island. From the port, tricycles take visitors to Masasa Beach, or private boats can be chartered for direct access to other coves and islands. Travelers are advised to check weather conditions, carry cash, and bring essentials like sunscreen, snorkeling gear, and water.

Check out the video below for additional features. Explore what I’ve captured through my lens in this cinematic slideshow.
Masasa Beach: The Island’s Star Attraction

Masasa Beach is the crown jewel of Tingloy, with soft, light-colored sand and turquoise waters perfect for swimming, wading, or lounging. Its wide crescent shape accommodates solo visitors and groups alike, while shallow snorkel areas showcase vibrant marine life. Natural rock formations and a small lagoon create excellent photo opportunities, and the sunsets here are spectacular. Often compared to Boracay, Masasa provides a similarly picturesque vibe but with fewer crowds and at a fraction of the cost.

Mag-Asawang Bato (Twin Peaks)

Mag-Asawang Bato is a prominent rock formation atop a hill, accessible via a 1.5–2 hour trek. From the summit, you get 360° panoramic views of Tingloy Island, surrounding seas, and the distant Calumpang Peninsula. It’s an essential stop for trekkers, photographers, and anyone who wants to absorb the island’s natural splendor.

Isla Sombrero

Also called Sombrero Island, this small uninhabited island lies off the eastern tip of Maricaban. Accessible only by boat, it’s a favorite for island-hopping, snorkeling, and beach picnics. Its quiet sands and clear waters provide a serene contrast to the main beach, perfect for day trips or photography excursions.

Marine Life & Diving Spots

Tingloy is part of the Verde Island Passage, a global biodiversity hotspot. Snorkelers and divers can explore thriving coral reefs right off Masasa Beach, while fish sanctuaries like Batalang-Bato (Pulang Buli) offer protected underwater ecosystems for more adventurous scuba diving.

Caban Island & Nearby Islets

Across from Maricaban, Caban Island and its beaches — including Mapating Beach, Layag-Layag Point, Fortales Beach, and Bahay Kambing — expand island-hopping options. These spots are often included in boat tours, giving visitors a broader sense of Tingloy’s coastal beauty.

Things to Do

Visitors to Tingloy Island can enjoy a variety of experiences. Water enthusiasts can swim, snorkel, or take island-hopping tours to Sombrero, Tawil Point, Sepoc, and small lagoons. Adventure seekers can trek to Mag-Asawang Bato, photograph dramatic landscapes, or try cliff jumping at Tawil Point. At night, the island’s minimal artificial lighting offers ideal conditions for stargazing and astro-photography, making overnight camping a memorable experience.
