Laiya Beach in San Juan, Batangas is a laid-back, easily accessible beach destination just a few hours from Manila. With its crushed coral shoreline and blue-green waters, it’s ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and island hopping via local bangka or boat. Resorts like Acuatico, Acuaverde, La Luz, Blue Coral, Virgin Beach Resort, Cala Laiya, and Playa Laiya Beach Club line the coast, offering everything from luxury stays to casual day trips. It’s a perfect escape for families, barkadas, or solo travelers looking to recharge without the hassle of a plane ride.

If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in Metro traffic, daydreaming about the beach while scrolling through Instagram—Laiya Beach might just be the answer your soul’s been waiting for. Just 3 to 4 hours away from Manila, this coastal gem in San Juan, Batangas is the kind of place that says, “Don’t overthink it. Just go.”

And really, that’s the magic of Laiya: no frills, no fuss, just pure beach bliss.

Check out the video for more highlights. See what I’ve captured through my lens with Point of View (POV) photography. Using a body cam, I’ll take you on an interactive tour, showing you behind-the-scenes moments of capturing the shots shared here.
Check out the video below for additional features. Explore what I’ve captured through my lens in this cinematic slideshow.
A Beach for All Kinds of Travelers

Laiya isn’t about fancy promenades or towering nightlife—it’s for people who want to feel the sand under their feet, the salty breeze on their face, and the sun slowly melting away all that city stress.

What makes it unique? Well, its shoreline isn’t your typical fine white powder; it’s crushed coral and shells, giving it a slightly coarse but natural texture. The water? A beautiful shade of blue-green that shifts with the sunlight—sometimes calm, sometimes playful. Perfect for a swim, a splash, or just a good, long float.

Families, barkadas, couples, solo wanderers—you’ll see them all here. And they’re all after the same thing: a reset button that works.

THINGS TO DO (OR NOT DO—THAT’S OKAY TOO

Honestly, you could spend an entire weekend in Laiya doing nothing but watching the tide come and go. But if you’re the type who gets antsy just lying around, don’t worry—there’s plenty to keep your beach-loving heart happy. You can hop on a jetski, ride a banana boat, or paddle around in a kayak. Snorkeling is another easy win—local boatmen offer quick rides to nearby coral areas just off the coast.

Even better? You can rent a bangka for a short island-hopping trip or explore farther coves along the coastline. While Laiya isn’t known for multiple islands like El Nido or Caramoan, the boat rides give you a refreshing change of perspective, and some spots even offer cliff views and quiet swim zones just a few minutes away from the main beach.

Some resorts also offer beach volleyball courts or beachside bonfire setups. And if you’re into golden-hour photography, Laiya has some of the best coastal sunsets this close to Manila—fiery skies reflecting on gentle waves, with silhouettes of fishing boats dotting the horizon.

Where to Stay

Now let’s talk about where to drop your bags. If you’re into luxury and that Instagrammable infinity pool, Acuatico Beach Resort is your go-to. Right next door, Acuaverde Beach Resort is a little more low-key but just as charming, especially for families and fur-parents. La Luz Beach Resort is perfect for those who prefer a more rustic and nature-forward stay, with open-air cabanas and eco-friendly accommodations.

If you’re looking for space and comfort for a bigger group, Blue Coral Beach Resort offers spacious rooms and large pools right on the beachfront—great for barkadas and reunions. Then there’s Virgin Beach Resort, known for its peaceful vibe and long stretch of white sand, perfect if you want fewer people and more silence.

For day-trippers or those who prefer a club-style beach experience, Playa Laiya Beach Club is a solid pick. With its well-kept facilities, beachfront access, and open pools, it’s a great option if you’re just popping in for the day and want full amenities without booking an overnight stay. And let’s not forget Cala Laiya, which sits farther down the beach and offers a quieter, more exclusive feel—ideal for romantic escapes or solo digital detoxes.

All these resorts are right on the Laiya Beach shoreline, giving you direct access to the sea without the need for long walks or transfers. It’s beach life—delivered instantly.

Travel Tips

If you’re not a fan of crowds, plan your visit on a weekday. Laiya fills up fast on weekends, especially during holidays and peak summer months. Bring enough cash since some resorts may not accept cards, and ATMs in the area can be limited or out of service. Mobile signals may get patchy in certain areas, so download maps and confirm bookings before the drive. And don’t forget water shoes—the seabed gets rocky at low tide, and your feet will thank you. Oh, and sunscreen? Non-negotiable.

Why Laiya Still Hits Different

It’s easy to overlook Laiya when you’re constantly being bombarded with photos of Palawan, Bohol, or Siargao. But here’s the thing—Laiya is consistent. It’s not trying to be trendy; it’s just being exactly what it is: a solid, beautiful beach that’s easy to get to, affordable, and always worth the drive. You don’t need plane tickets or vacation leaves to enjoy it. You just need a free weekend and a willingness to unplug.

And sometimes, that’s all you really need.

Final Thoughts

Laiya Beach doesn’t try too hard—and maybe that’s why it works. It’s simple, it’s accessible, and it delivers the kind of beach experience that feels genuine. Whether you’re there to swim, tan, bond with friends, or just be still for a while, this strip of sand in Batangas welcomes you like an old friend—no expectations, no pressure.

So next time the city gets a little too loud, remember this: Laiya is just a drive away.

You bring the good energy. Laiya will do the rest.
