Proximity to Manila makes it a travel hotspot, perfect for beach enthusiasts and those fascinated by local cultures.

ABOVE: Fishermen often go out at night because many fish are more active in the dark, making them easier to catch. The warm yellow light on the boat is used mainly to provide enough visibility for the crew—it doesn’t actually attract the fish. It’s all about safety and practicality while working in low-light conditions.

The bay not only provides a livelihood for local fishermen but also attracts tourists from around the world due to its stunning scenery and abundance of marine life.
Legend has it that settlers from northern Mindoro and southern Cavite were drawn to the vast plain near the shores of Balayan Bay at the end of the 18th century. The area’s rich marine life, particularly the abundance of fish, enticed them. Salting and drying fish soon became their main occupation, meeting the high demand from people in Cavite, Mindoro, Laguna, and Batangas.
