What Enchanted Kingdom Is About
Enchanted Kingdom, often simply called EK, stands as the Philippines’ first and only world-class theme park in 2012. Located in San Lorenzo South, Santa Rosa City, Laguna, it has become a flagship destination for families, school groups, thrill-seekers, and tourists from across Luzon. The park embodies a vision brought to life by founders Mario and Cynthia Mamon, who in the early 1990s sought to create an authentic theme park experience for Filipinos, drawing inspiration from international amusement parks. Officially incorporated in 1992, the park broke ground in August 1994 and opened to the public on October 19, 1995, blending themed environments, storytelling, and rides designed with global expertise.

Location and Park Setting
Strategically situated along RSBS Boulevard in Santa Rosa, Laguna, Enchanted Kingdom is easily accessible from Metro Manila, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by land. Its layout in 2012 spanned several themed zones, each crafted to provide a distinct atmosphere. Victoria Park served as the elegant main entrance, featuring the Grand Carousel and Victorian-inspired design. Midway Boardwalk, reminiscent of Coney Island, offered a busy mix of rides and games for all ages. Boulderville catered to younger guests with dinosaur-themed rides and play areas, while Spaceport celebrated futuristic themes anchored by the park’s signature roller coaster. Additional areas like Portabello, Jungle Outpost, and Brooklyn Place transported visitors into Caribbean adventures, jungle explorations, and old New York cityscapes. Each zone was meticulously themed to create an immersive experience beyond ordinary amusement park visits.

Signature Rides and Attractions
By 2012, Enchanted Kingdom offered a diverse collection of rides catering to families and thrill enthusiasts. The Space Shuttle, a steel boomerang-style roller coaster, remained a standout attraction as the first of its type in the Philippines. Classic rides like the Grand Carousel provided staple experiences and photo opportunities. Water rides such as Rio Grande Rapids and Jungle Log Jam offered splashes of fun, while thrill rides including EKstreme Tower Ride sent visitors 150 feet into the sky. Other favorites like the Swinging Ship, Bumbling Boulders, and Dodgem Cars ensured that guests of all ages found entertainment. Beyond rides, seasonal shows, parades, and fireworks added spectacle to the park, creating memorable experiences for holiday and anniversary visitors.

Throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s, Enchanted Kingdom saw steady growth in visitor numbers, reaching over 2 million attendees annually by 2012. In 2008 alone, the park contributed to Laguna’s record tourism arrivals, with more than 846,000 visitors enjoying the province’s attractions. EK’s consistent popularity confirmed its status as the Philippines’ premier theme park, attracting families, school excursions, and foreign tourists alike.

The park operated year-round, offering flexible schedules and hosting special events during peak seasons. It accommodated school field trips, corporate events, and private celebrations such as birthdays and weddings. Transportation for Manila-based visitors was facilitated through shuttles and accessible public transit, ensuring that reaching the park was straightforward and convenient.
