Calauan‘s name is derived from the term “Kalawang,” which means rust. This name is linked to the historic Macalawang Spring, located about three kilometers from the town center, where lumps of rust were once seen drifting gently on the water. The Pinya Festival not only celebrates Calauan‘s agricultural wealth but also honors its unique historical and cultural heritage.
