Fantasy World in Lemery, Batangas, shows the power of change. First planned as a big theme park, it now draws tourists and adventurers with its pretty, unfinished castle and Bavarian-style appeal. Despite closing and troubles, the park has become a special spot just for tourists. With its fading castle walls and great views, Fantasy World gives off a royal vibe and teaches about finding unexpected beauty. It’s a go-to place for those wanting a mix of fantasy, history, and exciting moments.

Fantasy World, initially envisioned as the country’s largest and most magnificent theme park, unfortunately never realized its grand opening. Situated in Lemery, Batangas, the park’s incomplete state led many to perceive it as an abandoned castle over time. The owner faced challenges that forced the closure of the entire park, resulting in various areas falling into disrepair and becoming ruins.

The castle walls started peeling and wearing away, creating a picturesque yet eerie scene. Interestingly, for some tourists and travelers, this dilapidated state presented a unique opportunity for striking photos and cinematic settings. Embracing this unexpected turn of events, Fantasy World has chosen to maintain its current status and welcomes visitors seeking captivating photo opportunities.

Originally constructed in the early 2000s, this expansive medieval-themed park, spanning 30 hectares (74 acres), was projected to cost one billion pesos, with full operation anticipated by 2005. However, financial challenges halted Fantasy World’s progress, leading to its abandonment in the 2000s. In 2010, new owners acquired the theme park and repurposed it exclusively for photography sessions for the local community.

Originally, there were plans to construct a 504-room hotel and other recreational facilities near the theme park. Despite having installed rides, none of them are currently operational. At the heart of Fantasy World stands a castle inspired by Bavarian architecture. As visitors enter the park, they’ll notice the fading paint on these Bavarian-style castles, creating an eerie atmosphere. The castle’s tower is a prominent feature, visible from a distance as they approach Fantasy World. Climbing to its viewing deck offers a breathtaking panorama that spans across Batangas, Quezon, and Laguna provinces. This vantage point provides visitors with a splendid perspective of Taal Lake, its volcano, and the surrounding towns.

The park, with its stunning landscapes, creates a regal atmosphere that makes visitors feel like royalty. This picturesque setting serves as an ideal location for film shoots and engagement sessions. Notably, it was featured in Majika, a 2006 GMA fantasy series, and Fantastica, a 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival entry.

While the rides may no longer be operational, touring the courtyard and the castle still offers a royal experience. Beyond the P100 admission fee, visitors have the option to pay extra and dress up as a king or royal subject, even sitting on a throne for that extra touch of grandeur.

Alternatively, some group members opt to rent fairy tale costumes, turning the visit into an Instagram-worthy adventure. The enchanting theme park boasts numerous spots perfect for capturing those shareable moments. From the whimsical fountain to the expansive garden, tourists can indulge in photo sessions. The park features two tree houses connected by a hanging bridge, providing a charming backdrop for crossing between them while capturing memorable shots or simply enjoying some peaceful moments.

While the theme park may not offer adrenaline-pumping activities, many visitors come just for the selfies, close-up views of the castle, and to bask in the magical surroundings. It’s a place where every corner seems designed for capturing the perfect shot and creating lasting memories.
